Dressing better

Clothes that make a difference

Faun Studio was created out of a desire to make a difference in the fashion industry. We work with eco-friendly materials and prioritize ethical labor practices throughout our supply chain. We’re committed to minimizing our carbon footprint and reducing waste by using recycled and deadstock fabrics whenever possible.

Our goal is to make sustainable fashion accessible to all, without compromising on style or quality. We want to inspire people to make more conscious choices when it comes to their wardrobe, and show that sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style. Together, we can make a positive impact on the fashion industry and the planet.

Because after all, girls just wanna have FAUN.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

At Faun we connect and honour our roots, both Canadian and Vietnamese. This is why we are proud to be a Canadian brand with our production site in Vietnam. With family in Vietnam, the designer, Marisa P. Clark, visits quite frequently. This has allowed her to develop a personal relationship with the production facility and its workers.

Having our sampling studio and production in Saigon we are often asked about fair working conditions. And we want to be asked, because it is something which is at the core of our beliefs!

Marisa P. Clark was moving in a conventional career path. With a background in Political Science and Economic Policy, she was preparing to enter a career in financial services. As she spent more time in an office and less time being creative, she realized something was missing. In 2015, she entered the world of online retail and launched Bocca Imports, a specially curated site of ethically sourced and unique artisan pieces. Staying true to her philanthropic routes, 100% of the proceeds from this passion project are donated to her mother’s charity, B.T. Mekong Education Association, that supports education in rural Vietnam.

As her love for fashion merchandising grew, Marisa realized her true passion for design. With ambitions of being a fashion designer, she broke the mold and enrolled in the London College of Fashion in 2016.

Since her graduation, Marisa. P. Clark designs have been featured at Western Canada Fashion Week, Vancouver Intl. Fashion Week, L.A. Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. In one year, the designer has created both Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collections, which have gained recognition worldwide.

When asked about the quick trajectory of her career she acknowledges her roots. "I felt discouraged by the fact I was from Calgary, a relatively small city with little acknowledgment from the international fashion community," she says about her early beginnings as a fashion designer, "it seemed like I needed to live in New York City or London if I wanted to have a chance at breaking into the industry."

However, with the achievements of the past year it has led the designer to believe location is truly what you make of it. Upon diving into the fashion industry, Marisa has found a collective of like-minded people. The world has become astonishingly interconnected with the fashion industry operating on an international scale. Instead of finding this intimidating, Marisa has embraced the enormous amount of opportunity leading to positive experiences within the industry.

This whirlwind of a year led to the creation of Faun Studio.
